Seaward Kayaks Australia Team - closed the store in Huskisson for the day and took some time out to celebrate International Women's Day.

A day trip to the Booderee National Park was decided upon to celebrate International Women's Day today. Along with Ashleigh McDonald ( JBK & Seaward Kayaks Sea Guide )and Tracy Gibson ( JBK & Seaward Kayaks Australia Kayak Training Coordinator ), we spent the day just simply soaking up the majestic location and practicing skills in some of the most beautiful bays and beaches the region has to offer.

A rare chance to brush up on our Rolls , bracing and skills, the girls laughed and generally messed around in our boats after the 6km paddle out to St Georges Head. The return journey saw us meandering close to the coast to avoid the 30knot headwinds and a well deserved break at Kitty's Point.

We broke out the Snorkeling Gear and some more skill training a bit of fun at Whiting Beach made the most of a perfect day.

Our Seaward Kayaks looking all the more beautiful with the amazing backdrop and we cant wait to get out there again.

Seaward Kayaks Australia attended Kayaktopia 2010 at Jervis Bay Kayak Co's KAYAKTOPIA 2010. This inaugural event is set to become a major annual event and the Seaward Line up were put through their paces on the beach opposite JBK. Great weather and Seaward/JBK Team Member Mat Goodwin explained the range to the prospective buyers.

OCTOBER - Seaward Kayaks will be at the National Sea Kayak Symposium on the 22-23rd of October on Qld's Goldcoast at Tullabudgera, followed by the massive Demo Day on Sunday the 24th . Seaward Kayaks - Whale Encounters

This is the time of year when anything can happen in Jervis Bay. The water is cool, the weather is crisp and the wildlife , unbelievable. This winter has proved to boast the highest numbers of migratory whales, and this week we have had two Southern Right Whales along the Hyams Beach to Nelsons Beach strip. One of the whales is supporting her calf and the other is believed to be pregnant.

Janet and I ventured out today for our trip towards Hyams Beach and were lucky enough to spend almost three hours floating near her. Keeping a minimum distance of 100mtrs, was at times difficult as she expressed an interest in both of us and surfaced several mtrs away from both us. Although quite intimidating, she was very gentle and spent hours lying on the surface only to lay vertically with her tail in the air. Appearing also to become more animated when the whale watching boats and pleasure craft approached. The enormity of this whale was only evident when her head would stand out of the water, spyhopping to get a clear view, only to roll on her side and perform head stands.

An incredible day that reminds us of the beauty and simplicity of Sea Kayaking. As Spring and Summer approach , the paddling only gets better with more whales, dolphins, seals and penguins being sighted every year.

In a unique partnership between Seaward Kayaks Canada and the newly formed Seaward Kayaks Australia, the brilliant range of Sea and Recreational Kayaks will now be in production in Huskisson Jervis Bay on the South Coast of NSW.

JBK Directors, Ross and Janet Boardman has established a new facility for the assembly and completion of the Seaward TX Thermoformed Sea Kayak Range. The Import and Australia Wide distribution of Seaward Kayaks is now a reality after undergoing extensive research over several years ,and an essential visit to the Seaward Kayak Facility on Vancouver Island in BC Canada.

In an agreement between Seaward Kayak Director Steve Ree and Seaward Australia's Ross Boardman, Tyson Desmarais ( Seaward Mfg Foreman) flew to Australia to assist in the set up and initial assembly of the first shipment , highlighting the need for quality control and techniques used in manufacture that has set the Seaward Kayak Range aside from other brands.

"It seemed an obvious choice to Janet and Myself to partner with Seaward Kayaks in Canada", said Ross Boardman " as they are the industry leader in terms of design and technology, and it was in fact this technology and the advancements that Steve Ree and the Seaward Team have made in thermoform technology that attracted us to the range".

There are a number of reasons why we have undertaken the assembly and completion in Jervis Bay as the Carbon emissions from shipping have been reduced by almost 80% as we have been able to ship larger qtys combined with the Recyclable Nature of the new ABS Substrate, we have reduced our impact on our environment significantly.

Complete assembly ,testing and distribution is now undertaken in our Factory in Huskisson using new state of the art pneumatic applicators and proprietary adhesives that become part of the ABS Substrate thereby bonding the parts as one. All accessories are genuine Seaward and Kayak Sport Parts essentially providing a Canadian Designed work of art with an unparalleled finish and quality here in Jervis Bay.
